Seismic performance of fabricated continuous girder bridge with grouting sleeve-prestressed tendon composite

摘要: The seismic performance of a fully fabricated bridge is a key factor limiting its application. In this study, a fiber element model of a fabricated concrete pier with grouting sleeve-prestressed tendon composite connections was built and verified. A numerical analysis of three types of continuous girder bridges was conducted with different piers: a cast-in-place reinforced concrete pier, a grouting sleeve-fabricated pier, and a grouting sleeve-prestressed tendon composite fabricated pier. Furthermore, the seismic performance of the composite fabricated pier was investigated. The results show that the OpenSees fiber element model can successfully simulate the hysteresis behavior and failure mode of the grouted sleeve-fabricated pier. Under traditional non-near-fault ground motions, the pier top displacements of the grouting sleeve-fabricated pier and the composite fabricated pier were less than those of the cast-in-place reinforced concrete pier. The composite fabricated pier had a good self-centering capability. In addition, the plastic hinge zones of the grouting sleeve-fabricated pier and the composite fabricated pier shifted to the joint seam and upper edge of the grouting sleeve, respectively. The composite fabricated pier with optimal design parameters has good seismic performance and can be applied in high-intensity seismic areas; however, the influence of pile-soil interaction on its seismic performance should not be ignored.

A filtering-based bridge weigh-in-motion system on a continuous multi-girder bridge considering the influence

摘要: A real-time vehicle monitoring is crucial for effective bridge maintenance and traffic management because overloaded vehicles can cause damage to bridges, and in some extreme cases, it will directly lead to a bridge failure. Bridge weigh-in-motion (BWIM) system as a high performance and cost-effective technology has been extensively used to monitor vehicle speed and weight on highways. However, the dynamic effect and data noise may have an adverse impact on the bridge responses during and immediately following the vehicles pass the bridge. The fast Fourier transform (FFT) method, which can significantly purify the collected structural responses (dynamic strains) received from sensors or transducers, was used in axle counting, detection, and axle weighing technology in this study. To further improve the accuracy of the BWIM system, the field-calibrated influence lines (ILs) of a continuous multi-girder bridge were regarded as a reference to identify the vehicle weight based on the modified Moses algorithm and the least squares method. experimental results indicated that the signals treated with FFT filter were far better than the original ones, the efficiency and the accuracy of axle detection were significantly improved by introducing the FFT method to the BWIM system. Moreover, the lateral load distribution effect on bridges should be considered by using the calculated average ILs of the specific lane individually for vehicle weight calculation of this lane.

Continuous dynamic monitoring of a centenary iron bridge for structural modification assessment

摘要: A multi-channel continuous dynamic monitoring system has been installed in a centenary iron arch bridge on late November 2011. The historic infrastructure, completed in 1889 and crossing the Adda river about 50 km far from Milan, is the most important monument of XIX century iron architecture in Italy and is still used as roadway and railway bridge. The monitoring project follows a series of preliminary ambient vibration tests carried out on the bridge since June 2009. The paper describes the bridge structure and its dynamic characteristics identified from the experimental studies developed since 2009, the installed monitoring system and the software developed in LabVIEW for automatically processing the collected data. Subsequently, the tracking of automatically identified natural frequencies over a period of about 18 months is presented and discussed, highlighting the effects of environmental and operational conditions on the bridge dynamic characteristics as well as the detection of structural changes, mainly based on natural frequencies shifts.

Design and stability analysis of continuous skew tied-arch bridge over Bin Jiang River

摘要: A tied arch bridge without wind bracing was built over the Bin Jiang River, with oblique angle of 20°. Its main design details are described and mechanical performances are analyzed. The stability analytical types are also introduced and the first elastic stability theory is used. A space finite element model has been built to analyze the stability performances in both construction and operation stages for single span or continuous, orthogonal or oblique bridge. The influence of stiffness of the end crossbeam is also analyzed. The result shows that out-plane buckling occur for a rigid tie and similar no matter whether it is single span or continuous and orthogonal or oblique. When there are more and stronger inner crossbeams, the influence of the end crossbeams on arch stability becomes unremarkable.

Frontier of continuous structural health monitoring system for short & medium span bridges and condition

摘要: It is becoming an important social problem to make maintenance and rehabilitation of existing short and medium span(10-20 m) bridges because there are a huge amount of short and medium span bridges in service in the world. The kernel of such bridge management is to develop a method of safety(condition) assessment on items which include remaining life and load carrying capacity. Bridge health monitoring using information technology and sensors is capable of providing more accurate knowledge of bridge performance than traditional strategies. The aim of this paper is to introduce a state-of-the-art on not only a rational bridge health monitoring system incorporating with the information and communication technologies for lifetime management of existing short and medium span bridges but also a continuous data collecting system designed for bridge health monitoring of mainly short and medium span bridges. In this paper, although there are some useful monitoring methods for short and medium span bridges based on the qualitative or quantitative information, mainly two advanced structural health monitoring systems are described to review and analyse the potential of utilizing the long term health monitoring in safety assessment and management issues for short and medium span bridge. The first is a special designed mobile loading device(vehicle) for short and medium span road bridges to assess the structural safety(performance) and derive optimal strategies for maintenance using reliability based method. The second is a long term health monitoring method by using the public buses as part of a public transit system (called bus monitoring system) to be applied mainly to short and medium span bridges, along with safety indices, namely, “characteristic deflection” which is relatively free from the influence of dynamic disturbances due to such factors as the roughness of the road surface, and a structural anomaly parameter.

Pretest analysis of shake table response of a two-span steel girder bridge incorporating acceleratedbridge construction connections

摘要: This paper presents pretest analysis of a shake table test model of a 0.35-scale, two-span, steel plate girder bridge. The objective of pretest analysis was to obtain an insight on the seismic response of the bridge model during the shake table tests. The bridge included seat type abutments, full-depth precast deck panels, and a two-column bent in which columns were pinned to the footing and integral with superstructure. Six accelerated bridge construction connections were incorporated in the bridge model. An analytical model was developed in OpenSees and was subjected to ten input bi-directional earthquake motions including near-fault and far-field records. The overall seismic response of the bridge was satisfactory for all the earthquake records at 100%, 150%, and 200% design level. All connections and capacity-protected components remained elastic, and the average ductility capacity surpassed the ductility demand even at 200% design level. Using experimental fragility curves developed for RC bridge columns, it was predicted that there was a probability of 45% that columns would undergo the imminent failure in the last run and a probability of 30% for their failure.

大跨度混凝土连续梁桥的病害成因分析

摘要:

自20世纪80年代以来,我国建成了大量大跨度预应力混凝土连续体系桥梁,取得了辉煌成就,但随着桥梁建设数量与使用年限的增加,该类桥梁在施工与运营期陆续出现一些具有共性的病害:跨中挠度过大、箱梁开裂与跨中合龙段底板剥离等,而且有些病害已经导致桥梁重大的安全事故与经济损失。文章对国内数十座桥梁出现的病害随时间变化发展的趋势、在空间上分布的形态等进行了分析。根据现有的理论研究成果,分析了腹板斜裂缝、底板纵向裂缝、合龙段底板分层等病害的形成机理,提出了控制裂缝等病害发生的措施,并说明了这些控制措施在泰州大桥预应力桥

大跨度三跨连续悬索桥钢箱梁总体吊装方案研究

摘要:

三跨连续悬索桥不同于单跨悬索桥,两边跨设置吊杆,在主塔区域设置无吊索梁段实现中边跨加劲梁之间的连续过渡,并且一般在边跨过渡墩处设置限位转置,实现该区域主缆和加劲梁的协调变形,是其主要结构特点;因此该类型悬索桥加劲梁的吊装方法及关键施工工序也相对较为复杂。以南京长江第四大桥为工程背景,针对大跨度三跨连续悬索桥的结构特点,通过对两种不同的钢箱梁吊装顺序进行比选分析,确定合理的钢箱梁吊装方案。

Probabilistic seismic response and uncertainty analysis of continuous bridges under near-fault ground

摘要: Performance-based seismic design can generate predictable structure damage result with given seismic hazard. However, there are multiple sources of uncertainties in the seismic design process that can affect desired performance predictability. This paper mainly focuses on the effects of near-fault pulse-like ground motions and the uncertainties in bridge modeling on the seismic demands of regular continuous highway bridges. By modeling a regular continuous bridge with OpenSees software, a series of nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis of the bridge at three different site conditions under near-fault pulse-like ground motions are carried out. The relationships between different Intensity Measure (IM) parameters and the Engineering Demand Parameter (EDP) are discussed. After selecting the peak ground acceleration as the most correlated IM parameter and the drift ratio of the bridge column as the EDP parameter, a probabilistic seismic demand model is developed for near-fault earthquake ground motions for 3 different site conditions. On this basis, the uncertainty analysis is conducted with the key sources of uncertainty during the finite element modeling. All the results are quantified by the “swing” base on the specific distribution range of each uncertainty parameter both in near-fault and far-fault cases. All the ground motions are selected from PEER database, while the bridge case study is a typical regular highway bridge designed in accordance with the Chinese Guidelines for Seismic Design of Highway Bridges. The results show that PGA is a proper IM parameter for setting up a linear probabilistic seismic demand model; damping ratio, pier diameter and concrete strength are the main uncertainty parameters during bridge modeling, which should be considered both in near-fault and far-fault ground motion cases.

连续钢箱梁桥面铺装层结构应力分析

摘要:

正交异性钢桥面的构造复杂,用理论算法对铺装层进行力学计算,较难得到精确的计算结果。本文利用有限元通用软件对曲线钢箱梁桥浇筑式沥青铺装层进行受力分析,将正交异性钢桥面板、铺装层作为整体,建立有限元模型,研究铺装层受力变形特点。根据钢桥面铺装层常出现的病害,并结合超载及刹车产生的水平荷载对铺装层受力的影响,提出相应的桥面铺装层破坏的综合控制指标。

Field validation of UHPC layer in negative moment region of steel-concrete composite continuous girderbridge

摘要: Improving the cracking resistance of steel-normal concrete (NC) composite beams in the negative moment region is one of the main tasks in designing continuous composite beam (CCB) bridges due to the low tensile strength of the NC deck at pier supports. This study proposed an innovative structural configuration for the negative bending moment region in a steel-concrete CCB bridge with the aid of ultrahigh performance concrete (UHPC) layer. In order to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of this new UHPC jointed structure in the negative bending moment region, field load testing was conducted on a newly built full-scale bridge. The newly designed structural configuration was described in detail regarding the structural characteristics (cracking resistance, economy, durability, and constructability). In the field investigation, strains on the surface of the concrete bridge deck, rebar, and steel beam in the negative bending moment region, as well as mid-span deflection, were measured under different load cases. Also, a finite element model for the four-span superstructure of the full-scale bridge was established and validated by the field test results. The simulated results in terms of strains and mid-span deflection showed moderate consistency with the test results. This field test and the finite element model results demonstrated that the new configuration with the UHPC layer provided an effective alternative for the negative bending moment region of the composite beam.

三跨连续弹性支撑体系悬索桥结构体系设计研究

摘要:

南京长江第四大桥为主跨1 418 m三跨连续悬索桥,结构体系复杂,世界范围内较为少见。本文通过对三跨连续体系悬索桥矢跨比、索塔区支撑、纵向限位及竖向限位的比较研究,详细阐述了该结构体系的受力特点,并结合南京长江第四大桥的实际情况,提出了适合的结构体系形式。同时,三跨连续弹性支撑体系在悬索桥中首次应用,具有创新意义。

三跨连续加劲梁悬索桥在桥塔处梁段刚接及体系转换时如何保证无索区的线形平顺过渡、顺利进行体系转换、确保成桥线形与内力一致是一个难度较高的技术课题。本文讨论了国内外无索区梁段进行体系转换的方法,并以一座超千米的三跨连续钢箱梁悬索桥为例,实现其无索区加劲梁体系转换、线形调整和施工控制。

Strain and process engineering toward continuous industrial fermentation

摘要: Most current biotechnology industries are based on batch or fed-batch fermentation processes, which often show low productivity and high production costs compared to chemical processes. To increase the economic competitiveness of biological processes, continuous fermentation technologies are being developed that offer significant advantages in comparison with batch/fed-batch fermentation processes, including: (1) removal of potential substrates and product inhibition, (2) prolonging the microbial exponential growth phase and enhancing productivity, and (3) avoiding repeated fermentation preparation and lowering operation and installation costs. However, several key challenges should be addressed for the industrial application of continuous fermentation processes, including (1) contamination of the fermentation system, (2) degeneration of strains, and (3) relatively low product titer. In this study, we reviewed and discussed metabolic engineering and synthetic biology strategies to address these issues.
